ABOUT
HISTORY
From the beginning, McLane has always been about innovation, integrity and leadership. We evolved from a small retail grocer in 1894, to a leading grocery wholesaler and distributor in the ’60s and ’70s, to a worldwide logistics powerhouse in the 1990s. Today, McLane is a supply chain services leader, delivering more than 10 billion pounds of merchandise to customers every year.

Beliefs & Values
Principles That Guide Our Relationships
Since our 1894 founding in Cameron, Texas, McLane has been through many changes. One aspect that has not changed is our beliefs and values.
Our founder, Robert McLane, felt deeply that business should be based on honesty, integrity and high Christian principles. These beliefs and values are the principles that guide our relationships with customers, teammates and shareholders.
Over 120 years later, we continue to honor these principles in all our day-to-day business relationships.
Culture
McLane Company is dedicated to fostering an environment where employees are treated equally and one that is reflective of the diverse world in which we live. Each employee, or “teammate,” is considered a valuable component of our supply chain management process and the overall McLane team, also consisting of “coaches” and our People team. Our core values and beliefs are ingrained in everything we do and speak to our family-centric mentality. Our commitment to our customers’ success is also reflective of our passion to make a difference in the community and within talent advancement. In fact, McLane has some of the longest tenured employees in the industry, some of which advanced from washing trucks and admin positions to carry the title of president.
Diversity/SPARK
At McLane, one way in which we recognize diversity throughout our workplace is through disability inclusion. In 2013, McLane introduced the SPARK Initiative. The goal of the initiative is to increase awareness and provide meaningful employment opportunities to people with disabilities by implementing inclusion strategies that recognize talent, increase engagement and drive business results.
Programs under the SPARK initiative include:
Workplace Diversity Hiring Program: To further expand our commitment of creating and maintaining a diverse and inclusive workforce McLane launched a pilot program that provides real world work experience to individuals with disabilities. During the six week program, participants receive two weeks of classroom instruction including soft-skills training, such as teamwork and problem solving and four weeks of on the job training, where participants are exposed to real-world work experience as they integrate and work alongside McLane teammates. During the experiential training a job coach accompanies participants, ensuring they receive proper training based on their individual abilities.
Hiring Our Heroes (HOH): Because McLane deeply values the sacrifice and driven work ethic U.S. veterans and military embody, the company embarked on a partnership with Hiring Our Heroes in 2015. Initiated by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, the 12-week Corporate Fellowship program strives to make the transition to civilian careers easier and more seamless for military veterans. McLane works with other HOH partners Workforce Solutions and the Texas Veterans Commission to source active duty military personnel for onsite project work lasting 11 weeks. To date, McLane has successfully hosted four fellows and has hired three. With this partnership, McLane is able to tap into the skills, drive and value our veterans have to offer.
Operation Impact Network of Champions: To further expand its veteran reach and talent with expertise in logistics, information technology, security, maintenance and business operations, McLane became part of the Operation Impact Network of Champions. This program was started by Northrop Grumman, a Department of Defense contractor, and sets out to assist wounded service members injured during the war on terror with transition from military to civilian careers.
Green Advantage / Sustainability
McLane is also a dedicated environmental partner, committed to living, working and investing to improve the communities we serve. Through our Green Advantage Initiative, we have made significant improvements in the way we work that will not only reduce our environmental impact, but also make McLane a better and more efficient company.
